The Griqua people moved to Plettenberg Bay with the hope that there would be enough land available for 100 families to produce to fulfill their own needs .They are a group of people from diverse backgrounds who have their own national history, leadership flag monuments and commemorative days. The roots of their current leadership can be traced down from before the 1820’s. Because of the lack of money it was a big struggle to become land. Only in 1957 the farm Kranshoek was purchased. They now had what they always dreamed of - a home of their own. Here they put down their roots and have struggled to maintain their culture.
