Question: Why would I do a 3 day mountain bike trip in the Eastern Cape?
Answer: Because it will be an unforgettable experience cycling on remote and safe dirt roads in a beautiful countryside that is totally unknown to you. We cycle from mountains to the sea through wonderful apple country.

You have to be fairly fit to do this route. You will spend three to four hours per day in the saddle.

Day one: (60km)

We meet in Kareedouw. It is a small village in the ‘Langkloof’, and it is where we start our mountain biking towards the sea. The route will be approximately 60km. We stay over at a luxury lodge on a private beach where you can go for a horse ride or just relax on the beach or next to the pool. Fine cuisine and soft beds to end your day!

Day two: (60km)

Today we cycle for about 60km. Our destination is the southern border of the world heritage site, the Baviaanskloof. Here we will stay over in a privately owned border wilderness farm. It is an unforgettable experience. We sleep in native American tipi tents. If you have energy to spare you can take part in a range of adventures on the farm. Although, to sit and enjoy the scenery will almost certainly be enough!

Day three: (60km)

Today will be a challenge for your legs. We cycle through remote mountainous countryside. You will find out why your bike is called a mountain bike!

The scenery is worth the effort. The last 10km is a downhill that will stay with you for a long time, and you will be very glad that you did not cycle this route in the other direction.

For the mountain biker that revels in pain….we can always reverse the direction of the route!

The last evening will be spent in a country lodge near Kareedouw. Time to unwind after three days of cycling. Different adventures are available from the Lodge, such as trips to the Kouga River Deck and the Bush pub.

Abseiling and fishing is also an option. It is also on the well known ‘Route 62’ which takes you through the Langkloof. The Langkloof is known for brilliant mountain scenery, fruit orchards, game, good food and great hospitality.

You will need to bring:

• If possible…your own mountain bike
• Cycling clothes…. For warm, cold and wet conditions. We cycle through various climates.
• Cycling shoes
• Helmet and sunglasses
• Cycling gloves
• If you are going to use one of our bikes…bring your own pedals if you want to use you own cycling shoes.
• Casual clothes for the evenings
• Something warm
• Swimming costume
• Personal toiletries/medication/sunscreen
